Hi Lois,
thanks for the extra explanation on the Haswell vs Baytrail processors.
I ran some more tests today and started with installing the latest BIOS version as you suggested.
As for your test scenario: booting without a monitor works just fine. So after checking that the NUC booted properly I unplugged the monitor.
The first time I tried the VNC connection it actually worked (without a monitor). I saw the windows login screen and all was dandy. But...now here is where it gets interesting. I closed the VNC connection and tried a second time to connect to the NUC. Unfortunalely this time I just got the black screen again. So it does connect with VNC, but the NUC only shows me a black screen.
I then went further into the VNC settings. There is a privacy option in RealVNC server for "When last user disconnects" with three choices:
- Do nothing
- Lock the computer
- Log the current user account of
With the "Do nothing" option set, I can keep reconnecting to the NUC without any problems. With the other two options set, the black screen issue is back again :-(.
As I don't want to leave the user logged in when disconnecting, the "Do nothing" option is not an option for me.
I do hope my test findings give you a better idea as to what is happening.
Kind regards,
Arno
